Blue Spot 7 Year Old
Blue Spot Irish whiskey disappeared from shelves back in the 1960s, but we are very happy to say that Blue Spot is back! Mitchell & Son has relaunched Blue Spot as a triple distilled 7 year old single pot still Irish whiskey, drawn from a combination of bourbon, sherry, and Madeira casks, bottled up at cask strength. An immensely flavoursome expression, with huge pot still character to it. Fantastic stuff.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose Big hit of spices on the nose, ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon, followed by a medley of puddings: banana custard, apple pie, and frangipane tart.
Palate It’s a spicy one, with plenty of black and sichuan peppers. It’s full-bodied and super creamy with vanilla green apple, peaches, lemon peel and toasted hazelnuts.
Finish There’s a milk chocolate creaminess that goes on and on with fresh fruit and nuts lingering, and just a lick of rum at the end.
Blue Spot takes its name from the Mitchell family tradition of marking their barrels of maturing whiskey with coloured paint stamps to determine the potential age of the whiskey. Historically, Blue Spot represented a 7-year-old whiskey, alongside the famous Green Spot (10 years), Yellow Spot (12 years) and Red Spot (15 years).
After more than 56 years of waiting, Blue Spot finally reappears, bringing together the historic Spot family in a very special edition. This whiskey embodies the exceptional qualities of the Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey. It has been aged for a minimum of seven years in a combination of Bourbon, Sherry and Portuguese Madeira casks, and is bottled cask strength to provide a unique and authentic taste experience.
Blue Spot is the result of a remarkable heritage and incomparable expertise. It has the richness of flavours, the complexity of aromas and the subtlety of nuances, characteristic of Single Pot Still Irish whiskeys. Its meticulous ageing and the influence of the different types of barrels give Blue Spot a splendid depth and intensity of taste.
